The redesigned 2015 Ford F-150 aluminum-bodied pickup truck hit a major milestone this week. More than 1 million shoppers have built and priced F-150 configurations on Ford’s Web site, the automaker reported.
“The all-new F-150 is off to a tremendous start,” said Ford in a statement.
Demand for the truck is so great that Ford is adding 1,550 new jobs to its Kansas City Assembly, Dearborn Stamping, Dearborn Diversified and Sterling Axle facilities to meet customer demand for the F-150.
Dearborn Truck and Kansas City Assembly will have the capacity to produce more than 700,000 trucks per year for 90 markets globally, according to the automaker.
In January, F-150 sat just 12 days on dealer lots, turning faster than any Ford vehicle. High-end Platinum and King Ranch F-150 are “turning even faster, averaging just 9 and 10 days on dealer lots, respectively,” Ford said.
The Ford F-Series had its strongest sales month since 2004 in January. F-Series posted sales gains of 17 percent in January, with 54,370 trucks sold last month.
