Ashland High School Wins Ford’s “Kick It and Pic It” Contest!

24 Dec

GrizzlyCongratulations to Ashland High School for winning the Ford Drive One 4 UR School “Kick It and Pic It” Contest!  The contest was a spin-off of the Drive One 4 UR School program that teams Ford up with dealers to raise money for local schools.  All schools that participated in the Fall 2012 Drive One event were eligible.  Their task was to snap a photograph highlighting not only the school but the 2013 Ford Escape and its tailgate lift sensor (thus the “Kick It” portion of the contest title).  Local photographer Kayla Jill snapped a photo showing the Ashland High Grizzly football players running from a Grizzly Bear and seeking refuge in an Escape.  Volunteer football coach Chip Layton said, “I’m so happy because I think the vision was actually captured.  The boys were such good sports and made the experience so enjoyable.”  The Ford folks in Detroit loved it, too, and named the photo the winner!  As grand prize, Ford will double the amount Ashland High took in during its last Drive One event… which means the Grizzlies doubled their proceeds from $8,000 to $16,000!  All the fundraising dollars will go to help the team get to Japan for the semi-annual 2013 Pacific Rim Bowl game against a team of Japanese all-stars.  Way to go, Grizz!
