Hopefully, the third time will be the charm for the 2013 Ford Escape. The crossover vehicle is on recall number three this summer, the second to fix problems that could be associated with engine fires (for info on previous recalls: http://butlerford.wordpress.com/2012/07/20/ford-recalls-2013-escapes-for-possible-fire-danger/ and http://butlerford.wordpress.com/2012/07/16/2013-ford-escape-recall/)
Ford says the plug that keeps engine coolant where it’s supposed to be could dislodge, sending coolant where it’s not supposed to be. As the coolant evaporates on the hot engine, a fire could result.
The recall affects certain 2013 Escapes manufactured from October 5, 2011 through August 31, 2012. Owners of affected models will be notified and directed to local dealers to have the problem fixed, free of charge. For more information call Ford at 1-866-436-7332 and reference campaign number 12S39.
