Ford Lariat Plays Well in the Snow

19 Jan

It was the perfect weekend to play in the snow. After a week of temperatures in the teens and storms that did nothing but tease the valley floor with snowfall, the white-capped mountains held the promise of a winter wonderland that never quite materialized at the lower elevations. To double my pleasure I hit up Butler Ford Sales Manager Scott Davis for one of the pretty new 2011 Ford F-150 Lariats.

Snowy roads can make a driver anxious: Nobody likes having their vehicle slide out of their control. But I felt really safe, especially since the 2011 Lariat comes standard with a safety cage made of hydro formed high-strength steel, a 4-wheel disc antilock brake system, and a slew of airbags (driver and passenger front and side impact, and a safety canopy that runs the entire length of the cab). I didn’t plan on any mishaps (who does?) but, if it came to that, at least the truck was outfitted with an SOS Post Crash Alert System to set off the lights and horn if the airbags deployed.

We didn’t get as much time to play as I’d hoped – the sun sinks faster behind the peaks than expected but the snow’s not going anywhere anytime soon. The one thing that was perfectly clear though – was this truck was made for any type of terrain and I can’t wait to get back up on the mountain for another adventure. The fantasy now is to be able to drive the truck the way I really wanted to, but that will have to wait until it’s my own.
